Himalayan Flowering Ginger and Chinese Butterfly Ginger Lilies are easy to grow and are grown for their foliage and their exotic, colourful, fragrant flowering heads which flower in late summer or autumn and consist of spikes of tubular flowers with prominent anthers, flowering in all shades of yellow, pink and red. The ginger flowers are followed by fruits containing sometimes colourful seeds

All the flowering gingers here can be grown outdoors in the UK with some winter protection, grow in humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil in sun or partial shade, with shelter from cold winds and a deep winter mulch.

The Pot and Grass Company is UK nursery which specialises in Hardy Bamboos and Ornamental Grassesas well as garden Ferns and cold tolerant Flowering  Gingers which we import from both China and the Himalayas.  All our plants are available through our Online Store

Our ginger rhizomes are imported air freight from China and the Himalayas several times a year depending on demand or to fulfil special orders. By using air freight to import our rhizomes we can ensure that the gingers we offer are sent out to our customers as fresh and viable as it is possible to be.  Each rhizome we import is healthy and comes with the necessary documentation and Phytosanitary Certificates.

All the gingers on these pages are for sale through our Online Shop and unless otherwise stated are in stock for immediate dispatch although a few may only be available in limited quantities at the time of ordering. Gingers that are shown as out of stock will usually be available within four to six weeks. If you have a large order please contact us, we can arrange to ship direct to you.

You can see what we have to offer in the way of unusual and rare plants by visiting the Online Store where you will be able to browse by category or use the search facility.
